Downtown Art and Cultural Event
1st Thursday of Every Month ~ 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Downtown Santa Barbara, De la Guerra and State, Santa Barbara, CA
1st Thursday is a monthly series focused on downtown art and culture. On the first Thursday of each month, downtown galleries will keep their doors open from 5-8 PM allowing the public to enjoy local art in a fun and social atmosphere. Additional attractions such as music, artist openings, demonstrations, and refreshments will be featured at participating venues. State Street will come alive on 1st Thursday with public performances and interactive exhibits. These pieces will showcase a variety of Santa Barbara arts groups as well as add to the lively atmosphere downtown.

Sponsored by the City Parks and Recreation Department since 1966, the show is now the only continuous, non-juried arts festival of original drawings, paintings, graphics, sculpture, crafts and photography in the world. Whatever the size, subject, media and price, all are original art, done by the artists you meet.

Free Concerts at Chase Palm Park

Free Concerts at Chase Palm Park can be heard most Thursday evenings in the months of June through August. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic. Featuring a screening of Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Co-creator of Monty Python’s Flying Circus and star of numerous films including A Fish Called Wanda, the comically gifted actor and writer John Cleese has lent his delightfully wry witticisms and memorable voice to a host of projects from Fawlty Towers to Shrek the Third. Cleese will introduce the hilariously farcical Monty Python and the Holy Grail and answer audience questions about his side-splitting depiction of the Black Knight and this landmark work following the screening. (Terry Gilliam & Terry Jones, 1975, 91 min.)
